Step 8: Receivables advancement

ABC Furniture wants access to some of its future PC300 receivables before their scheduled payment dates. Advancement is optional and works against receivables already in the schedule, separately from the original sale; the creditor's advancement terms determine the amounts.

Objective: If a merchant needs access to funds before the original scheduled payment date, use applicable receivables advancement to simulate or submit an advancement request against future receivables.

Receivables advancement for ABC Furniture

AcmePay first simulates the request using the Simulate merchant advancement endpoint.

Request payload example
curl --request POST \
     --url 'https://sandbox.pismolabs.io/merchants/v1/marketplaces/{marketplaceId}/merchants/4458801/advancements?confirmAdvancement=false' \
     --header 'accept: application/json' \
     --header 'authorization: Bearer {accessToken}' \
     --header 'content-type: application/json' \
     --data '
{
  "request_date": "2027-02-01",
  "begin_date": "2027-03-01",
  "end_date": "2027-07-31",
  "amount": 500.00,
  "currency_code": "USD",
  "real_time_settlement": false
}
'
Response payload example
{
  "simulation_id": "a882e95e-5138-4e85-a89c-26778f2e4b14",
  "type": "SIMULATION",
  "currency_code": "USD",
  "begin_date": "2027-03-01",
  "end_date": "2027-07-31",
  "request_date": "2027-02-01"
}

confirmAdvancement defaults to false, which returns type: SIMULATION. Setting it to true creates an actual advancement request (type: EFFECTIVE).

  • begin_date, request_date, amount, and real_time_settlement are required. amount is the net amount to be paid in advance.
  • request_date must be on or after today in the merchant program's time zone.
  • Because the request sets real_time_settlement: false, the advanced amount settles in the next settlement window rather than immediately.
  • The response returns identifiers, not amounts. To see an advancement's gross, net, and discount amounts, use the Get advancement endpoint.

This endpoint generates a Merchant advancement request created event.

For the other advancement endpoints, how advancement affects the original schedule, and the events generated when the advancement transaction is created, refer to Receivables advancement.
