Step 5: Evaluate creditor operation
After receiving the sale, Seller management automatically evaluates it against the PC300 creditor operation.
Objective: Apply the creditor operation configuration associated with the transaction so that Seller management can determine the transaction's payment timing, installment treatment, rates, fees, and resulting schedule behavior.
From transaction to evaluation
The default status of a new merchant transaction is SCHEDULED; for a marketplace scheduler merchant, the transaction is created with WAITING_SPLIT. You can set the status explicitly using transaction_status, which accepts PENDING, SCHEDULED, SETTLED, CANCELED, or WAITING_SPLIT.
The full set of merchant transaction statuses is PENDING, SCHEDULED, BLOCKED, SETTLED, PAID, ADVANCED, CANCELED, RETURNED, WAITING_SPLIT, and SPLITTED.
How Seller management evaluates the merchant transaction
For the six-installment PC300 sale, Seller management:
- Locates the creditor operation configured for PC300 with
installments: 6. - Associates the transaction with the ABC Furniture Creditor Account, in the Acme Retail Marketplace context.
- Calculates each installment's scheduled payment date from the timing fields. Refer to Timing for more information.
- Applies the MDR and the fixed transaction fee to the first installment only (
matched_mdr: false), and deducts the marketplace fee.
Evaluate the transaction and create the receivable
Seller management creates a receivable for USD 974.70 from the USD 1,000.00 sale, after the 2.0% MDR, the USD 0.30 fixed transaction fee, and the 0.5% marketplace fee, and adds it to ABC Furniture's receivables schedule according to the configured installment and settlement rules. The schedule then becomes the source for settlement and, if used, receivables advancement. This example assumes the zero-rate MDR tax that AcmePay configured in Step 3.
Note: This example illustrates the transaction-level outcome produced by creditor operation evaluation. The exact distribution of fees across installments, installment-level amounts, scheduled settlement dates, and rounding behavior depend on the specific creditor operation configuration.
