Step 2: Define your infrastructure
The Pismo support team works closely with you to build the foundation—or infrastructure—of your card issuing program.
Skip if you’ve done these steps
If you’re already a Pismo customer, you’ve probably completed some of these steps. Skip what you’ve done and go to Step 3: Create your programs.
Create your organization
Your Pismo support team creates your organization (known as your Org) on the Pismo platform based on the information you provide. The Org specifies your company’s details, such as its legal name, address, and time zone. Once created, it is assigned an identifier, which is referred to as either an Org ID or Tenant ID.
Some technical context
Pismo uses core objects and has a built-in object hierarchy. The organization, or Org, is the top-level object in this hierarchy. It contains your card issuing programs, as well as any other programs you create. You might refer to these programs as products. Within programs you create accounts and customers.
For a comprehensive overview, refer to Core objects.
Get access to the Pismo Service Desk
You’ll use the Pismo Service Desk to start building your program, make other requests, resolve issues, ask questions, and so on. To get started, request access. We will help you with this step.
Build your test and production environments
Ask your Pismo support team to build two environments for you:
- A test environment, which contains no production data.
- A production environment, which is your live environment with actual customer data.
Get card network certification
Work with your Pismo support team to get card network certified. Network certification is the process of obtaining approval from a payment network, such as Visa or Mastercard, to issue credit or debit cards that can be used within their network. Though you are responsible for getting network certified, we’ll guide you through this process.
Be aware that this process can take up to six months to complete—especially the first time. Strong project management and skilled card network engineers will help minimize this timeline.
Get access to Pismo Control Center
Ask your Pismo support team to set up access to Pismo Control Center. Control Center is the web-based user interface you use to create and manage your card issuing program. You can use it to perform many tasks without needing to use REST APIs.
