# Compulsory agreements

A compulsory agreement is the same as an [installment agreement](https://developers.pismo.io/pismo-docs/docs/installment-agreements), except that the `compulsory` field is set to `true`, indicating that it's the result of a renegotiation that was made independently of the customer.

Use the endpoints in the [Refinancing API](https://developers.pismo.io/pismo-docs/reference/installmentpaymentsv4) to create, manage, and search for your compulsory agreements (as well as other types of payment agreements).
